UPDATE: Man’s death ruled a homicide in downtown Fort Wayne shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man is dead after an early-morning shooting near downtown Fort Wayne that also injured a woman.

According to Fort Wayne Police, officers were called to the intersection of Van Buren St. and Michaels Ave. on a report of a shooting at about 2:40am.

Police found the man and woman in a car, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers attempted CPR but were unable to save the man, while the woman is reportedly in good condition at an area hospital.

The male victim was identified as William Michael Adamonis, 31 of Fort Wayne. His cause of death has been determined to be gunshot wound of the chest, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

Adamonis is the 9th homicide victim in Allen County this year.

It turns out the two were shot in the rear parking lot of the Broadway Grill, a little more than a half-mile away, and were then driven to the intersection by a third person.

Police will be looking at surveillance footage from inside and outside the bar to figure out what happened and determine a suspect.
