UPDATE: Person found dead inside submerged vehicle identified

UPDATE: The Allen County Coroner has identified the body of a female found inside a submerged vehicle over the weekend. The person has been identified as  Carol J. Knueve, 62, of News Haven. 

The cause of death was determined to be drowning and the manner of death has been ruled a suicide.

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): An investigation is underway after emergency crews found a body inside a submerged vehicle.

It was just before 3:00 p.m., Sunday, when a passerby spotted the vehicle in a southern Allen County pond, near the 5900 block of Hoagland Road, according to our partners in news at ABC 21.

Once emergency crews, firefighters and scuba divers arrived at the scene, the divers found the body inside the SUV.

The incident is still under investigation, but the Allen County Coroner is expected to conduct an autopsy and release more details Monday.
