UPDATE: Woman Arrested After Double Shooting in Van Wert

VAN WERT, Ohio (WOWO): Police have arrested a woman after a double shooting that left one person dead in Van Wert Thursday night. Officials with the Van Wert County Sheriff's Department say the woman was brought into custody around 10:00 Friday morning. According to our news partners at 21 Alive, police had been looking for 47-year-old Tamara Menke, of Ohio City, in relation to Thurday night's double shooting in Van Wert.

One person was killed and another is reported in stable condition after a shooting early Thursday night in Van Wert. 

Two people, a man and a women, were shot around 6 p.m. at a home on South Fulton Street, that's just west of downtown. A massive hunt for the shooter continued well into the morning today. 


According to the Times Bulletin of Van Wert, the woman was pronounced dead after being airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital. The man was shot in the thigh, he's reported in stable condition. The shooter is believed to be a family member. She's described as a 47-year old woman driving a red car. She was said to have a .22 caliber rifle in her possession. 

Police continued to search well into the early morning. The operation included K-9 units and helicopters combing through wooded area near U.S. 224 east of the Indiana-Ohio state line in western Van Wert County.  State investigators were on the scene late night piecing together clues.
