Watch out for phone scam about sick cat

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): If a woman calls saying she is raising money for a sick cat, it’s a scam.

The Better Business Bureau said it has gotten calls from American Legion members about the scam. They said a woman is claiming to be with American Legion and is collecting money to help a sick cat, according to our news partners at ABC 21.

The woman is saying it’s for a sick cat at the Humane Society in Huntington.

The American Legion officers have asked the woman to stop calling people, and that the legion supports veterans — not sick pets.

If you get a call from this woman, you should let the BBB know on its scam tracker online.
