Winter Storm Drops About Seven Inches of Snow on Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — A winter storm that dumped several inches of snow on parts of northern and central Indiana is being followed by sharply colder air that's expected to leave roads slick and hazardous.

The National Weather Service says that about seven inches of snow fell in Fort Wayne and Muncie, while South Bend reported six inches of fresh snowfall.

Between three and five inches of snow was reported across parts of central Indiana, including the area just north of Indianapolis. But in the Indianapolis area the snow turned to rain during Saturday morning, creating slushy conditions.

That slush was forecast to freeze overnight as lows fall into the teens across the state.
