1 Dead, 2 Wounded in Separate Shootings in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – Police are investigating two separate shootings that killed one man and injured two others in Indianapolis.

The first shooting occurred around 9 p.m. Sunday on the city's near southeast side. The victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Witnesses told police they believe the shooting was accidental.

The second shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday inside an apartment on the north side. An Indianapolis Metropolitan Police spokesman says two men were taken to a hospital, where one of them died and the other was in critical condition as of late Sunday night.

Police say they have arrested a person of interest in the fatal shooting.

Both shootings remain under investigation.
