14 Arrested in Ohio Human Trafficking Operation

HOLLAND, Ohio (AP): Authorities say 14 people have been arrested in the Toledo area and accused of being part of a human trafficking operation.

The Lucas County Sheriff's Office made the sweep at a Springfield Township hotel this week, charging the defendants with offenses including promoting prostitution, soliciting, and drug-related charges. Most of them were arraigned Thursday.

According to local media reports, the sheriff's office worked with the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force on the operation.

Lucas County Sheriff John Tharp said in a statement that “human trafficking not only is a criminal offense, but it is also an offense against human rights.''
