ANDERSON, Ind. (WOWO) — A 17-year-old Noblesville boy has been charged with murder in the September 6 shooting death of a man in Anderson.
Madison County prosecutors charged Jovonte Day-Jahn Larry with murder and dangerous possession of a firearm on Monday in connection with the death of 22-year-old Tomerious T. Smoots.
Anderson police were called to Sonny Ray’s nightclub on Madison Avenue shortly after the shooting was reported. Officers found Smoots inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper abdomen.
Smoots was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the incident and determined Larry was the person who fired the shots, according to police.
Larry was arrested September 8 in Noblesville, two days after the shooting.
The charges allege Larry was responsible for the shooting that killed Smoots. The case will proceed through the Madison County court system.
