58 percent of registered Hoosier voters voted on Election Day

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): More than 50 percent of the registered voters voted on Election Day.

Secretary of State Connie Lawson said 58 percent or 2,807,676 of Indiana’s 4.8 million registered voters voted on Nov. 8.

“Early voting reached a record high of 33 percent this year,” said Lawson. “Hoosiers continue to take advantage of the options counties and the state have provided to make voting easier.”

In 2008, early voting was at 24 percent. While in 2012, it was at 22 percent.

Decatur, LaGrange and Whitley Counties had the highest voter turnout in the state with 71 percent. Hendricks, Vermillion and Wells Counties had 70 percent.
