The Fort Wayne fire department is on the scene of a house fire on Mechanic Street near Center Street.  

Firefighters were called to the two story home around 8:30 this morning. Callers reported seeing smoke coming from the home.  

No one was inside the home at the time. The cause has been determined as improperly discarded smoking materials.
