ELKHART, IND. (WOWO) An Elkhart man is facing charges after police say he fired a weapon from his apartment toward another resident at a local apartment complex Friday night.


Police respond to shots fired call

According to the Elkhart Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Retreat Apartments on Toledo Road shortly before 9 p.m. Friday following reports of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and identified a suspect who lived within the apartment complex.


Suspect accused of firing from apartment

Police say 29-year-old Keith Barrier Jr. allegedly fired a weapon from inside his apartment toward another male resident who was standing outside the building.

Investigators did not indicate what led to the incident or whether the individuals involved knew one another.

Authorities said no one was struck by the gunfire and no injuries were reported.


Arrest and charges

Following the investigation, officers arrested Barrier and transported him to the Elkhart County Jail.
