I&M Customers Asked to Conserve Electricity, Health Permitting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): I&M customers are being asked to conserve electricity today. The call is prompted by the continuing frigid weather. Demand for electricity is expected to go up because of the extremely cold temperatures. So, if health permits, consumers are asked to conserve electricity, especially from 6:00 to 9:00 A.M. and from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M.  Some simple steps include setting thermostats lower than usual, postponing major electric appliances like stoves, dishwashers, and clothes dryers until mid-day or after 9:00 P.M, and turning off lights and appliances that you don’t need or aren’t using.
