STEUBEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A 4-year-old child was found wondering along a roadway in Steuben County and now the child's mother is being charged with neglect.

Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m., Steuben County police got a call about a small child walking along north CR 400 W near Crooked Lake. Once police arrived on the scene, they found the 4-year-old all alone. The child was barefoot, wearing a pair of shorts and a t-shirt.

Police located the child's mother, 27-year-old Wendy Davis. She had allegedly left the child home alone and the child wondered off.

Davis was subsequently booked into the Steuben County Jail on one count of neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony.
