Fire badly Damages Northern Indiana Feed Mill

PIERCETON, Ind. (AP) – An overnight fire badly damaged a feed mill in northern Indiana, although firefighters were able to largely keep flames from reaching its grain bins.

Officials say a police officer on patrol spotted smoke coming about 2 a.m. Thursday from the Egg Innovations Feed Mill in the Kosciusko County town of Pierceton.

Pierceton fire Capt. Nathan Rhoades said crews immediately called for help from other fire departments after they saw flames at the top of the mill's grinding area. An aerial truck from Warsaw Fire Department was used to reach the top of the wooden structure.

No injuries were reported. The cause for the fire about 30 miles west of Fort Wayne wasn't immediately known.
