American Lung Association Gives Indiana an “F” on Smoking Policies

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The American Lung Association has given the state of Indiana an “F” on their smoking policies.

Indiana received a failing grade on 4 out of the 5 categories in their “State of Tobacco” report for 2015. Those categories include prevention and control, tobacco taxes, and resources to quit smoking.

The federal government also gave Indiana a failing grade on the FDA regulation of tobacco products and taxes.

The adult smoking rate in Indiana is almost 22 percent, with taxes nearly 2 cents lower than the federal rate for a pack of cigarettes.
