WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ Purdue University President Mitch Daniels is revising his proposal to freeze pay on administrative workers earning more than $50,000 to hold down tuition rates.
 
  Daniels announced Tuesday that all employees will be eligible for 1 percent merit raises. Purdue will tap an account previously budgeted to retain faculty and reward top performers to supplement the money available for faculty raises.
 
  Daniels says the plan will result in $7 million in savings through 2015. 
 
  The initial plan announced last month applied to senior administrators, deans and administrative and professional staff.
 
  Daniels says the change follows the second meeting of Purdue’s new President’s Council on Budget and Affordability.
 
  Council member David Williams says this is the first time Purdue faculty leaders have had a say in shaping the university’s budget.
