Police Warn about Charity Scams after Disasters

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): State police are warning Indiana residents to be wary of people seeking donations for tornado relief because scammers often try to profit after disasters. Police say people should be skeptical of those going door-to-door or making individual phone calls claiming to be collecting for tornado relief. They recommend that if you are contacted by someone asking for donations, ask questions to determine whether or not your contribution will actually go to tornado relief efforts.
