KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. (AP) – A South Carolina police chief has donated four squad cars to a small Indiana town whose police chief was shot by a stun gun to help raise money for a new police cruiser.
 
Knightstown Police Chief Danny Baker and three drivers picked up the free cruisers last week from the Ridgeland, S.C., police department.
 
Ridgeland Police Chief Richard Woods says the unused cruisers “were basically sitting in our back storage lot.” He says each is fully operable and has 100,000 miles or less.
 
Baker tells The Courier-Times the donation saved Knightstown untold expense and each car will be put to good use. 
 
The eastern Indiana police chief was shot by a stun gun Nov. 27 to raise the remainder of $9,000 needed to lease a new cruiser.
