Turner Worked to Nix Nursing Home Ban

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): A powerful Republican lawmaker whose family has a nursing home enterprise successfully spiked legislation last week that would have harmed his family's business. Multiple Statehouse Republicans with direct knowledge of the discussions told The Associated Press that House Speaker Pro Tem Eric Turner pressed other Republicans privately to reject a proposed nursing home moratorium. The construction ban would have had disastrous consequences for the development company run by Turner's son and represented at the Statehouse by his daughter.
