SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ An 18-year-old Niles man will serve four years in prison for fatally striking a pedestrian with his car and fleeing the scene of the accident.
Joshua Anglemyer was sentenced Monday to six years in prison, before the judge suspended two of those years. He was also given a six-year probation period during which he can't drive.
The judge also requested that Anglemyer be evaluated as a candidate for a work release program or home detention.
Anglemyer pleaded guilty in August to one felony charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He hit and killed 49-year-old David Fordyce in South Bend in March, when he had stopped to help a friend who was hit by another car.
Fordyce's friend, 43-year-old Michael Marks, was also killed by the other car. The driver in that incident wasn't charged.
