Soldier From Central Indiana Dies in Afghanistan

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (AP) – Military officials say a soldier from central Indiana was fatally wounded during combat in Afghanistan.

The Department of Defense says 29-year-old Staff Sgt. Matthew Ammerman of Noblesville died Wednesday.

The military says he was wounded by small arms fire during a clearing operation in Zabul Province. 

Ammerman was assigned to the Army's 7th Special Forces Group that's based at Florida's Eglin Air Force Base.
