2 People in Pickup Truck Die in Collision with School Bus

KOUTS, Ind. (AP) – Authorities in northwest Indiana say a pickup truck has collided head-on with a school bus, killing the truck's driver and a passenger.

Sgt. Larry LaFlower of the Porter County Sheriff's Department says the bus driver and two students, ages 17 and 18, were treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Tuesday morning's crash occurred near the town of Kouts, about 20 miles southeast of Gary.

Authorities were expected to release the names Wednesday of the pickup truck driver and passenger killed in the crash.

Porter County Coroner Chuck Harris says eyewitnesses told officials the truck was trying to pass a car along Indiana 8 when it collided with the Boone Township school bus.
