Fire Damages Home South of Downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne firefighters were busy fighting a fire south of downtown Monday afternoon. 

The fire broke out on the basement of a home on the 4000 block of Hoagland. Two people in the home got outside before firefighters arrived at about 2:30 in the afternoon. 

There were no injuries and minor damage inside, but two parakeets died because of the smoke. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
