NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): A new community center is coming to New Haven.

Monday, the Parks Department finalized the deal to acquire the 16,500 square foot facility on U.S. 30 west of New Haven. Parks Director Mike Clendenon says the property will mean expanded programs and sports facilities. It will also host their administrative offices.

The property near McDonald's was home to a drive-in movie theater and the Marine Corp League reception hall. It triples the space of their current headquarters.

The city paid $450,000 for the building and land. That's a significant discount from its original asking price of $1 million.

Clendenon says the former owners, Fort Wayne Vehicle Auction, shared the city's vision.
