NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WOWO): While there may be a new face on New Haven’s city council, he is no stranger to public service.

Steve McMichael won the republican caucus for District 5 on Saturday, according to Deb-Anne Smith, a spokesperson for the city of New Haven.

He will be replacing Tim Martin, who stepped down to move back to his hometown.
Since moving to New Haven in 2004, he has been involved in the community. Some of this public work includes serving as a chairman of the New Haven Community Foundation, vice-chairman of the New Haven Chamber of Commerce and board member of New Haven Tree Commission.

McMichael is the owner of Imagine Real Estate in New Haven. He will be sworn in and start his new position Feb. 9.
