SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP): A northern Indiana judge has agreed to delay the trial of a man accused of killing a 22-year-old South Bend woman last year.

The South Bend Tribune reports the attorney for 24-year-old Alberto Cruz asked St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha to delay the trial until May 16. Cruz had been scheduled to go on trial Monday.

He is accused of murder in the death of 22-year-old Alma Del Real, who was missing from April 12 until May 20, when Cruz allegedly led police to her body in a remote area near Culver, about 40 miles south of South Bend.

Prosecutors allege Cruz killed Del Real at her home after driving her home from a nightclub.
