Consultant questions City’s relationship with Electric Works developer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An independent consultant is wondering if the City of Fort Wayne even likes the developer behind the Electric Works project.

The proposed contract between the City and RTM Ventures, which would deliver the full $62-million in public funding the developers have been asking for, is seen as “kind of strict” by consultant Thomas Tuttle.

He tells the Journal Gazette the list of requirements, which include the City having a say on the construction plans and halts the payments of development fees until the project is complete, sends the statement that they don’t prefer the developer.

Other big downtown projects, like The Landing or the Ash Skyline Plaza, didn’t have such requirements. City spokesman John Perlich points out that each project is “unique.”
