FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – You may have heard of the “Buddy Bench” project, which was started by a Fort Wayne elementary student in an effort to help students feel less alone, and make friendships, while out on the playground.

Now, a popular shipping giant has gotten involved in the effort.

Our partners in news at ABC 21 report United Parcel Service (UPS) has teamed up with the fourth grade student Sammie Vance from Haley Elementary School to bring more “buddy benches” to schools across the country.

In a Facebook video posted to the UPS page, Sammie explains the goal of the “Buddy Bench” project, and can be seen delivering a bench to a school in New York.

UPS has pledged to donate $1 to charity, up to $100,000, for every share of the above video.
