Overnight ice storm causes morning havoc

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): You probably noticed: this morning’s commute was a treacherous one.

Freezing rain overnight led to a layer of ice covering nearly everything in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, leading to more than 1,800 power outages in Allen County alone, travel advisories, and dozens of crashes and traffic hazards.

Things probably won’t be much better tonight, as the National Weather Service is calling for rain to continue throughout the day, with another round of snow starting late tonight and carrying into early tomorrow morning.
