Allen County will get emergency text alert system

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County residents will soon be able to get emergency text alerts from local police departments.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, members of the Allen County Consolidated Communication Partnership approved $34,000 for a new text alert system. The system will be used for AMBER Alerts and other emergencies, according to our news partners at 21Alive.

The money is for software called Swift 911. The recent Amber Alert about Liliana Hernandez and Rene Pasztor prompted the conversation about an emergency alert text system.

When the two children went missing, a text alert wasn’t sent out because Allen County didn’t have the technology.
