Annual WOWO Fire Drill Wednesday, October 7th

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): As part of National Fire Prevention Week, WOWO continues a longstanding tradition of the WOWO Fire Drill. Wednesday, October 7th marks the 69th annual citywide drill where students from schools around the area will take part in evacuating their buildings to promote fire safety.

This year's host school is Emmanuel St. Michael Lutheran School at 1123 Union St. in Fort Wayne.  During the Fire Drill, a student will sound a fire alarm with the help of Fort Wayne firefighters, which will be broadcast live on WOWO Radio.

The Fort Wayne Fire Department is using this week to remind local residents about the importance of having working smoke alarms in the home and testing them monthly.

** Note: WOWO does not publicly announce the start time of the drill, as to keep it an actual drill for the participating schools.
