Area Jobless Rate Almost Full Point Lower Than Statewide Rate

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Allen County and surrounding counties have lower unemployment rates than the state. That's according to the latest figures released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

This week, it was revealed that Indiana has a jobless rate of 4.5 percent, matching Ohio's jobless rate and beating neighboring Illinois, Kentucky, and Michigan.

The Fort Wayne metropolitan statistical area, which includes Allen, Wells, and Whitley Counties, reported a 3.8 percent jobless rate in September. That's almost a full point below the statewide rate.
