SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) _ An agent for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has told jurors he found no evidence of a destructive device or bomb at a 2012 explosion that devastated an Indianapolis neighborhood, killing two.
Explosive enforcement officer Michael Eggleston testified Wednesday there was so much damage in the November 2012 explosion it was obvious it was caused by something more than a simple destructive device.
Defense lawyers had argued against allowing Eggleston to testify, saying his expertise is in destructive devices and not natural gas, which prosecutors allege caused the explosion.
St. Joseph Superior Court Judge John Marnocha allowed him to testify but wouldn't let him say the explosion was intentional, saying that was for jurors to decide.
Defendant Mark Leonard faces murder, arson and other charges.
