FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne-based baker is closing another bakery location.

Aunt Millie’s has announced it will close its Coldwater, Michigan bakery by the middle of January 2019. About 65 hourly bakery employees will be affected.

Company leaders say they’ll offer transitional assistance to employees affected, as well as have job openings for almost half the workforce at the company’s five other bakeries in the Midwest.

“After careful analysis, we determined the need to close our Coldwater bakery,” said John F. Popp, company president. “This is a part of a plan to optimize our bakery network. We reached this extremely difficult decision after thoroughly exploring other options.”

The company, which has corporate offices in Fort Wayne, closed its Fort Wayne bakery last April, impacting more than 90 jobs.
