INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles says it has been overcharging for driver’s licenses and will be cutting those fees.
 
The agency’s announcement Friday comes after a class-action lawsuit alleging Indiana has collected up to $30 million more than it should have by charging drivers more for licenses since 2007 than allowed by law.
 
BMV commissioner Scott Waddell says the agency is lowering the fees immediately after determining that it had miscalculated the fees by $3.50 for six-, five- and four-year standard operator’s licenses.
 
The new fees will range from $17.50 for a six-year license to $14.50 for a four-year license.
