Board of Education Member Talks about Wednesday’s Meeting

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Fireworks sparked at Wednesday's State Board of Education meeting. The board approved a new school grading system, but the meeting didn't end there. Democratic School Superintendent Glenda Ritz walked out over a procedural matter. Dr. Brad Oliver from the Board joined Fort Wayne's Morning News Thursday and said a big issue right now is shared responsibility for educational policy in Indiana. Dr. Oliver says, “I think education is a shared responsibility, and I think that's what the board's trying to get to with our State Superintendent, is that we share in that responsibility.” Dr. Oliver also said they need to work on relationships both inside and outside the meetings.
