Bristol Man Gets 65 Years in Shop Partner’s Death

GOSHEN, Ind. (AP): The co-owner of a northern Indiana tattoo shop has been sentenced 65 years in prison for killing his business partner and dumping his body in a river.

An Elkhart County jury this month convicted 36-year-old Todd Stewart of Bristol of murder charges in the 2012 death of 44-year-old Mark Miller.  Prosecutors said Stewart shot Miller, put his body into a 55-gallon barrel and dumped it in the St. Joseph's River. Miller's body was found 10 days after he was reported missing.

Prosecutors said Stewart killed Miller to gain control of the tattoo shop just outside Elkhart.

The Elkhart Truth and The Goshen News report defense attorney Cliff Williams said Stewart plans to appeal the conviction.
