3 Found Dead After Indianapolis Officer Wound

INDIANAPOLIS (AP): Police say two women have been found dead inside an Indianapolis home after a gunman shot and wounded a police officer.

City police Lt. Christopher Bailey says the gunman was later found dead outside the house following the shooting about 7:15 a.m. Friday, but it wasn't immediately clear how the man was killed.

Bailey says the officer was hit in his protective vest and was taken to a hospital in good condition.

Bailey says officers were called to the neighborhood on the city's east side on reports of a woman screaming. He says the gunman came out from between two houses as the first officer approached, with the two exchanging gunfire.

Information about how the women inside the house died wasn't immediately released.
