Brownsburg School Lockdown

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (AP) – Authorities say a student falsely reported being attacked at a central Indiana high school, causing officials to lock down the school for more than an hour.

Brownsburg Community Schools Corp. spokeswoman Donna Petraits (PEE-trayts) says school officials believe the junior made up a story about being injured by two attackers. She says the district may pursue charges against the student for falsifying a report.

Brownsburg police spokeswoman Jennifer Barrett says the student went into the bathroom at 8:41 a.m. Monday, then came out 17 minutes later and fell to the ground. He told school officials he had been stabbed and attacked, but Barrett says videotape shows no one else in the bathroom during that time.

Barrett says the student sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
