FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): An Allen County official is fighting cancer.

Allen County Council President Roy Buskirk announces Thursday that he has liver cancer, which has spread to his bones. 21Alive reports he made the announcement during this week’s Council meeting, but adds that he’s seeking treatment and plans to continue serving the public.

He’s also a part of the county’s Plan Commission and Redevelopment Commission, and has been on the Council since 2002.
