Charges Filed Against Man in Infant Son’s Death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ A 23-year-old Indianapolis man has been charged in his 5-month-old son's death in Muncie earlier this year.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports Cory Wallace was charged Wednesday on counts including arson and neglect of a dependent resulting in death. He was arrested Aug. 7.

Police say Wallace told them that day that he dropped his son Jensen on a hardwood floor in the family's home on Feb. 10, and placed him in a playpen instead of seeking medical attention. According to police, Wallace said he determined hours later that his son had died and set two fires in his son's bedroom.

The boy was later found dead in the family's burning home. Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn said the boy died of brain injuries.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Wallace.
