COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (WOWO): A long time deputy says he's running for Whitley County Sheriff. Marc Gatton announce he will see the Republican nomination for sheriff in May.

He's been a member of the sheriff's department for 18 years.  In a public statement, Gatton says he wants to be the best sheriff Whitley County has ever had.

He said he's worked for three other sheriff's and has been promoted by each. He's currently the chief deputy and has served as a reserve and a jail employee. He'll officially file candidate paperwork in January.
