Children Found in Unfit Living Conditions, Father Sent to Prison

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man is going to prison after police found his children living in a dirty hotel room last winter.

42-year-old Robert Boyko will spend time behind bars and cannot have contact with his children for six years.

Police discovered seven children, ranging between the ages of 1 week to 14 years at the Hallmark Inn, located off Washington Blvd in Fort Wayne. The children were found in “deplorable” conditions, including urine-soaked carpet, food on the floors, and some of the children were strapped to their chairs and car seats.

The Journal Gazette reports the children were eating food off the floor, that was also being used as a bathroom by two cats and a dog.

One of the infant children was taken into intensive care after suffering from hypothermia and jaundice.

Both Boyko and his wife were forbidden to contact their children, after pleading guilty in Allen County Superior Court last summer to seven counts of neglect.
