City Hires Architect for Riverfront Study

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A plan to develop Fort Wayne's downtown riverfronts is moving forward.

The city announced this morning the hiring of SWA Group, an architecture firm, to generate ideas for transforming the waterways.

SWA has worked with riverfronts in a number of other cities around the world.

The review focuses on watershed, river access, retail, housing and entertainment possibilities.

The $500,000 study could take up to 18 months to complete and is funded through the city's Legacy fund.
