Council Ok’s Rezoning for Shopping Center

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Plans to develop a small shopping center in Aboite Township are moving ahead.

Earlier this week City Council gave approval to rezone a stretch a land near Hadley and Illinois Roads for retail use.

This comes after significant concerns from neighbors on what it would do to the neighborhood. Those concerns included increased traffic and reducing property values.

The strip mall, called West Village Shops will cover about 9 acres. The request passed 6-3, with one Republican and two Democrats against it.
