Court battle brewing over Allen County sewer rates

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): There’s a court fight coming over a plan to consolidate water and sewer rates in Allen County.

Back in January the County’s Regional Sewer and Water District adopted new rates that sought to “unify” what customers in the County’s unincorporated areas pay… those paying higher rates would see their bills go down, while those paying less would see their bills go up, according to the Journal Gazette.

That plan has led to several neighborhoods filing formal petitions against the rates, saying some customers could see increases of 53%.

The lawsuit accuses the district of not following applicable law and procedures, while the county argues that if they didn’t unify the rates, they stand to miss out on $2-million of state grant money.

It’s all about the money for Fort Wayne. To me it seems “the ends justify the means” to them. Why can’t the state and county live within their means….. we have too
