AUBURN, Ind. (WOWO):  Police were called to a car on fire after eye witnesses said a man was trapped inside.

Around 3:10 p.m. on Friday, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office responded to the 5200 block of State Road 8 for a personal injury accident involving one vehicle.  When they got there, the car was engulfed in flames.

Early reports said a man was trapped inside the car, but when the police arrived they found 26 year old Manuel Martinez Jr. outside the car.  He said he was not the driver, however the witnesses said no one else was around or left the vehicle besides him.  Martinez was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital for injuries, and no one else is reported being injured.  

It's also said that Martinez was traveling at a high rate of speed.  Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The incident is still under investigation.
