BLUFFTON, Ind. (WOWO): Police and crews in Wells County are still on the scene of an ethanol spill in Bluffton at 200 South and Adams Street.

Just before 6:00 a.m., Thursday morning, a semi left the ethanol plant on the south end of Bluftton with about 8,000 gallons of ethanol in the trailer. When the semi reached the end of Adams Street, it continued across 200 South and went into an open field. That's when the tanker rolled over. Some of the ethanol in the truck started to leak, causing South Adams near 200 South to be shut down.

That area is still closed off as crews have set up booms to try and absorb the ethanol to keep in from getting into the ground. That area is not expected to be opened back up until 2:00 p.m., Thursday afternoon.

You're asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared as the ethanol is very flammable.
