ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Donating food will be as easy as placing it next to your mailbox this Saturday.

The 24th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Letter Carriers’ Food Drive is Saturday, May 14. To participate, Allen County residents can place a bag of non-perishable food next to their mailboxes and local letter carriers will pick up the bags while they are on routes, according to the United Way of Allen County.

Donations can also be made at the following sites in Fort Wayne.

  • Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road
  • Associated Churches Warehouse, 602 E. Wayne St.
  • Diplomat Post Office, 4171 Diplomat Drive
  • Tippmann Group, 9009 Coldwater Road
  • Trinity Lutheran Church, 1636 St. Mary’s Ave.

In 2015, more than a half million pounds of non-perishable food was donated during the food drive. Associated Churches Neighborhood Food Network and local food pantries will get the food that is donated.

Volunteers are still needed for the event Saturday. Call 260-422-3528 for more information.
