Germanfest 2016 kicks off with keg tap in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Grape stomping, dog races and lederhosen are just a couple things you’ll see in Headwaters Park this week.

Germanfest offically began at 11 a.m. Wednesday after the ceremonial tapping of the keg at Headwaters Park, according to our news partners at 21Alive.

Festival goers can enjoy a fencing show and demonstration, a 5K race, horse-drawn carriage rides, a magician, a bake off, wiener dog races and grape stomping.

Beer and German food will also be available every day.

The festival pavilion and bier tent will be open 11 a.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday. It’ll be open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Admission is $2 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and $5 after 5 p.m. Entrance is free for children under 14 and military personal .

No one under 21 is permitted after 9:30 p.m.
